Proactively failing a disk in Data Domain

Here's a quick procedure to proactively fail a disk in Data Domain. Perform the following steps:-

    1. Log on via Putty to the Data Domain
    2. Input login/password
    3. Enter the command disk fail <enclosure>.<id>

In most cases, you will then need to get an engineer to go to site to replace the disk once the disk has finished failing over. Here's a post to unfail a disk.
