Adding port 443 to Windows 7 firewall

This post provides the necessary steps to help you add port 443 into your windows 7 firewall.

Inbound Rules

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall
  2. Go to Advanced settings from the left hand side.
  3. On the left hand side of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security page, click on Inbound Rules.
  4. Click on New Rule... from the right-hand side
  5. Select the radio button for Port then click Next.
  6. Select the radio button for TCP
  7. Select the radio button for Specific local ports: then type 443 in the field to the right, then click Next.
  8. Select the radio button for Allow the connection then click Next.
  9. Leave the boxes checked and click Next.
  10. For Name type Inbound 443 TCP then click Finish.
  11. Again, on the left-hand side of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security page, click on Inbound Rules then click on New Rule... from the right hand side.
  12. Select the radio button for Port then click Next.
  13. Select the radio button for UDP
  14. Select the radio button for Specific local ports: then type 443 in the field to the right, then click Next.
  15. Select the radio button for Allow the connection then click Next.
  16. Leave the boxes checked and click Next.
  17. For Name type Inbound 443 UDP then click Finish.

Outbound Rules

  1. On the left hand side of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security page, click on Outbound Rules.
  2. Click on New Rule... from the right-hand side
  3. Select the radio button for Port then click Next.
  4. Select the radio button for TCP
  5. Select the radio button for Specific local ports: then type 443 in the field to the right, then click Next.
  6. Select the radio button for Allow the connection then click Next.
  7. Leave the boxes checked and click Next.
  8. For Name type Outbound 443 TCP then click Finish.
  9. Again, on the left-hand side of the Windows Firewall with Advanced Security page, click on Outbound Rules then click on New Rule... from the right hand side.
  10. Select the radio button for Port then click Next.
  11. Select the radio button for UDP
  12. Select the radio button for Specific local ports: then type 443 in the field to the right, then click Next.
  13. Select the radio button for Allow the connection then click Next.
  14. Leave the boxes checked and click Next.
  15. For Name type Outbound 443 UDP then click Finish.
