How to determine which tape drives are configured under SAM-FS?
This article provides a brief outline of how to determine which tape libraries and tape drives are configured under SAM-FS. All configured devices can be found the in Master Configuration File (/etc/opt/SUNWsamfs/mcf). This article does not discuss the in's & out's of the mcf file, it provides the basic knowledge to be able to extract the library/drive configuration.
Example of an mcf file containing tape devices:
From the above example we are able to determine via the Equipment Type (EqTp) field, that the SAM-FS configuration includes the following tape libraries/drives:
- 1x Generic SCSI Library (rb) with 2x generic (tp) tape drives.
- 1x StorageTek 97xx series (s9) with 2x StorageTek 9840 (sg) tape drives.
- 1x Library attached via StorageTek ACSLS interface with 5x StorageTek 9840 (sg) tape drives.
The remainder of this document provides a list of the common tape library and tape drive equipment types supported under SAM-FS.
SCSI Attached Libraries
