Which files do not get backed up on a windows client

This post provides a simple method of listing the files that NetWorker will never back up on a Windows client. This isn't the same as what you would specifying on the saveset or in a directive. This is a list of files that NetWorker will never backup and maintains this list in the clients registry.

Windows Registry

NetWorker uses the following registry entry to control the list of files never to backup:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CuurentControlSet\Control\BackupRestore\FilesNotToBackup

Here is an example for a Windows XP client:
