Sky Q Hub lights explained

If you find that the lights on your Sky Q Hub are confusing, don't panic! This article aims to provide a basic explanation with simple troubleshooting steps.

Sky Q Hub

The front of your Sky Q Hub has three lights. power, internet, and wireless. The table below lists all statuses for each of the Sky Q Hub lights with possible solutions.

ALL LIGHTS

Sky Q Hub power light off OFF There is no power to your Sky Q Hub!
  • Check the power cable is pushed firmly into your Sky Q Hub.
  • Check the power lead is connected to the plug socket.
  • If plug switch is on, switch off, wait 30 seconds, then switch back on.
  • If the lights still haven't turned on
— Contact Sky for support.
all Sky Q Hub lights solid green GREEN If all three lights are solid green, this means your Sky Q Hub is receiving power, it has internet connectivity, and your wireless network is active.
— Your Sky Q Hub is operating normally.

POWER LIGHT

Sky Q Hub power light red RED There is a problem with your Sky Q Hub power supply, and cannot be resolved.

Sky Q Hub power light flashing amber FLASHING AMBER Your Sky Q Hub is in RECOVERY MODE
— This can happen after a software upgrade and in most cases should resolve itself. If it doesn't:
  • Press the RESET button on the back of the Sky Q Hub for about 10 seconds, or until the power light flashes green.
  • Wait for the lights to return to normal, then check your broadband is working.
CAUTION: This will also RESET your WiFi password back to its default if you've changed it.
Sky Q Hub power light green GREEN If the power light is solid green your Sky Q Hub is receiving power and is initialising.

If all the lights are green, then your Sky Q Hub is working correctly.

INTERNET LIGHT

  • To resolve, turn off the Sky Q Hub, wait 2 minutes, then turn back on.
  • If the internet light still remains off

Sky Q Hub internet light flashing amber FLASHING AMBER The Sky Q Hub has detected an internet connection or is trying to establish a connection and should turn green after 2-3 minutes.
If the internet light constantly flashes amber or goes from green to flashing amber, this could indicate an unstable internet connection.
  • To resolve, turn off the Sky Q Hub, wait 10 minutes, then turn back on.
  • If the internet light continues to constantly flash amber
    — Contact Sky for support.
Sky Q Hub internet light solid green GREEN The Sky Q Hub is connected to the internet.
— Your Sky Q Hub is operating normally.

WIRELESS LIGHT
